Happy 3rd Birthday to Arien

We've had Arien for 3 years now!  Actually, her real gotcha day was Tuesday, September 6, but I'm just now getting these posted.  I really love how much Arien has grown and matured over these last 3 years.  She is such a sweet girl who definitely still has a crazy streak in her to keep me on my toes.  She still loves to jump onto my shoulders as I make my coffee or wash dishes.  She does spend a lot of time sleeping during the day, but she often chooses to sleep in her hammock in the office if that's where I am to work.  If she instead chooses to sleep in our bedroom during the day, then whenever she wakes up in the afternoon, she finds me and rubs against my legs and begs for some cuddles.  

The biggest change this past year is that Arien decided Joe was a nice guy to cuddle and ever since then, I think she actually prefers him.  Which I admit does sometimes make me jealous since she's only alive thanks to me hand-raising her.  But I generally love seeing her climbing up Joe's chest and head butting him before he finally pushes her to lay down where she stays purring and drooling on him.  😂  Whenever Joe or I reject Arien's advances for cuddles, she goes to Kira who always happily gives her a bath.  Typically about half way through this, Arien gets upset at Kira for licking her hair the wrong way and then Kira gets upset at Arien for not appreciating the effort and after a bit of fighting, Arien decides she should check again to see if the humans will cuddle her.

Arien seriously is such a great cat!  I'm so glad that after my parents found her and realized they were stuck with her, I didn't wait for them to find someone else to take her and instead decided to hand-raise her myself.  💓

Crazy Eater

My brother sent me a video of what his crazy cat does when she eats, so I of course I had to get a video of what my crazy pup does when he eats!  Truth is, he often skips meals.  We are always struggling to convince him to eat.  We know loss of appetite is a side affect of his heart problem.  We have had to be creative in convincing this guy to eat which sometimes means giving him lots of toys to play with while also eating.  It works, and its funny when he "talks" to his toys!

I LOVE seeing Beren play with his toys like this, because I know that he is happy and feels good!  Not to mention that it is so adorable!

Bath and Play!

Beren's feeling better and got a bath today!  He loves taking his antibiotic because he gets it with peanut butter.  All in all, he is much happier than he had been for a bit.  Well, I mean, he was happy until it was bath time.  Hahaha!  He perked up again after bath time for play time though!  Make sure you watch the video at the end to see him trying to convince me to play with him!

These are baby leggings that Beren is wearing.  They fit pretty well!  He was comfortable enough in them to run, play, and chase his tail.  Silly pup!  :)

I love seeing dogs chase their tails!  I was so happy to see that Beren will still chase his tail, even though he is almost full grown!  He is just so cute!  :)

Meeting Bailey!

Beren got to meet Bailey on Tuesday!  Bailey is basically Beren's cousin (she is my brother's dog).  :)  I couldn't believe that they are basically the same size except that Bailey weighs more.  It really made me realize just how much and how quickly Beren has grown!  Anyways, they had fun playing together!  I was surprised at their interactions.  It didn't go like I thought it would.  Bailey made it clear from the beginning that she was going to be the alpha dog, and she communicated this by barking at Beren which made him run and take cover under our Christmas Tree (that poor tree took a beating that day!).  She also was the one that initiated the playing (which was super surprising to me!).  She would bark at Beren and then they would run around together and take turns chasing each other.  She seemed to like Beren a lot at first.  She was so excited that she was foaming and drooling everywhere.  But after a couple hours, Bailey seemed to be annoyed with Beren and was trying to figure out where to go to get away from him.  He finally seemed to understand and went back to his usual method of annoying me, which is to bring a ball and try to stuff it into my lap until I throw it for him.  You should definitely watch the video to see them running around together!  :)
