Tiny Bed

We were dog-sitting for a little girl named Scarlett on Saturday.  She and Beren love to chase each other around.  But eventually they tire out and want to chill.  Beren was obsessed with her bed even though he obviously doesn't fit into it.

Beren looks like he genuinely feels bad for taking her bed and she looks like she is sad that she doesn't fit in it with him.  

I guess Beren got to stay.  Hahaha

Bandana

I was sorting through a drawer of old stuff and found this bandana I bought for my first dog, Sam.  I of course immediately made Beren wear it because I think bandanas look SO cute on doggos!  Beren wasn't so sure...  Ahahaha

I take a lot of pictures of Kira because she is so cute and I have no where else to post them, so here is a picture of Kira being adorable!  Haha

Happy Birthday!

My baby turns 2 today!  Doesn't he just look SO happy??!!  It's probably because he is still with his best friend Thomas!  Unfortunately, I am not with them!  I miss my boy and am sad to miss his birthday, but I am having a great time in TN with my family for our biannual vacation.  I can't wait to get home and snuggle my big boy!  Happy 2nd Birthday Beren!

Living the Dream!

Beren is living the dream this week because his best friend Thomas is staying with us for 10 days!  These two are really good at playing together and not being aware of their surroundings, so we removed a lot of our breakable things from our living room so they could play together freely.  They seemed happy to have even more space.  

Cat and Dog

These two make my heart so happy!  They love being near each other!  SO CUTE!  Also, I think Kira is getting ginormous.  I mean, her nickname has officially become "Fat Fat" or "Rollie Pollie".  BAHAHA!  

Besties

Beren was able to see his bestie, Thomas, this morning at my parents' house!  Neither of them were expecting it and although it wasn't long, they enjoyed every minute together!

So I know these two are cuties, but for the record, I affectionately call both of them dumb dumbs.  I mean look at those adorable, dumb faces!  HAHA! 

Cardiologist Appointment

Beren went back to the cardiologist today.  We have been concerned about his health and if the ventricular septal defect (VSD) is causing more issues because he seemed to be getting worse.  From research, I know that his VSD will develop into congestive heart failure (CHF), and I was nervous that we were already there.  Well, after some miscalculations, the results came in that Beren's heart is actually maintaining it's size and is as strong and normal as can be expected with VSD.  The VSD will eventually cause the left ventricular to become enlarged.  CHF doesn't develop until the left atrium is also enlarged.  Overall, our doctor said that Beren is actually doing fine for having VSD.  She was surprised that he doesn't eat well and has never eaten well because she said with her other heart patients, that symptom doesn't develop until they have CHF.  So while we are happy for a good report, it is concerning as to why he seems to be getting worse if it isn't due to the VSD.  In the meantime, we are going to focus on making sure that he eats better and doesn't skip meals anymore.  Our doctor gave us good tips to help with that issue, so I am hopefully that we can take manage it easily with some changes.

It was perfect weather so I had to take the opportunity to relax on our deck to do some work.  Beren was insisting that I should be playing frisbee with him instead.

What's That Smell??!

Beren came in with a nasty stench about him that was nauseating so I had to take him straight to the tub for a bath.  Kira had never seen this happen and wanted to check out what was going on.  I think she was also trying to figure out where the smell was coming from.  He seriously was so stinky!  But how cute is he all wrapped up in his towels??!!

Did I mention how lazy these two can be??!?!!  They love taking snoozes next to each other.  

Playful Pair

I seriously just love how much these two adore each other!  They are learning how to play with each other.  You see, Kira grew up around dogs and so she doesn't fear them and she wants to play with them.  Beren also grew up around our cat Penny and wanted to play with her, but she didn't want to so she would smack him and he became slightly fearful or hesitant around cats.  So, Kira is super gentle, but Beren is scared he is going to get hurt and often doesn't get too close to her.  However, I think he is finally learning that he won't get hurt.  Their interactions make me so happy!!

Sleepy Babe

I don't think Beren is feeling too well.  He seems especially sleepy.  He wants to go outside, but he just lays on the deck and doesn't play with his neighbor dog friends or even chase the squirrels.  My poor babe seems to have more and more bad days where he doesn't want to do much.

Friends!

I am SO proud of these two!  They are so quickly becoming best friends!  I mean look at this!!  Beren is letting Kira drink while he has food there.  And instead of getting mad or protective, he decided to quietly eat next to her.  So sweet!!!
