These pictures are in order from oldest to newest and span from September 11th to the 17th. A lot happened during that time including kitten going to the vet for constipation and getting started on deworming. She went back a few days later for her first official check-up, and they said she looks great! She also got her first bath, and she was switched from a syringe to a bottle. She's growing up so quickly!

Kira's Yearly Check-up
Kira had her yearly check-up at the vet today. She is admittedly quite fat (14 pounds), but she's super active from running up and down stairs as well as playing with Beren.
When I got home with her, Beren was quite concerned and wouldn't stop sniffing her and her cat carrier. It's really quite cute how much he likes her and is concerned about her.

Cardiologist Appointment
Beren went back to the cardiologist today. We have been concerned about his health and if the ventricular septal defect (VSD) is causing more issues because he seemed to be getting worse. From research, I know that his VSD will develop into congestive heart failure (CHF), and I was nervous that we were already there. Well, after some miscalculations, the results came in that Beren's heart is actually maintaining it's size and is as strong and normal as can be expected with VSD. The VSD will eventually cause the left ventricular to become enlarged. CHF doesn't develop until the left atrium is also enlarged. Overall, our doctor said that Beren is actually doing fine for having VSD. She was surprised that he doesn't eat well and has never eaten well because she said with her other heart patients, that symptom doesn't develop until they have CHF. So while we are happy for a good report, it is concerning as to why he seems to be getting worse if it isn't due to the VSD. In the meantime, we are going to focus on making sure that he eats better and doesn't skip meals anymore. Our doctor gave us good tips to help with that issue, so I am hopefully that we can take manage it easily with some changes.
For reference, here are the pictures from his first visit. He was just soo tiny then!

Sick Pup
Last night Beren fell asleep trying to play with his ball. He then had some diarrhea and had to get a quick bath to clean up what got in his fur.
This morning, my poor babe had bloody stool. He clearly felt so sick and weak that he was falling asleep when sitting up.
Our awesome vet was able to see him today. He wasn't wanting to explore or even sit between my legs like he usually does when he is nervous. He was so tired, he laid down. He has a fever again. He does not have parasites or a virus, so this is a bacteria issue in his gut that is causing him to bleed. He's back on antibiotics and also probiotics. I wish my babe never got sick and that all of these health issues would just go away. It's so hard for me to see him on his bad days from his heart condition and even worse when he is sick on top of that. He's been sleeping at my feet all day.

Vet Trip
Pupper isn't feeling well. We aren't sure what is wrong, but he has a fever so we are starting him on antibiotics and getting blood work done. Truth is, with his heart condition, he has a lot of days where he obviously isn't feeling well, and with his bad eye, he runs into things and hurts himself. But he is being especially irritable and looking especially uncomfortable, so we want more answers. I love his pup and am so proud of how well he did at the vet today with getting blood drawn. He stayed close to me and didn't seem interested in exploring, which is also a sure sign he doesn't feel well.
