Beren's 4th Birthday

Today is Beren's 4th Birthday!  I enjoyed throwing this little party for him yesterday.  I honestly was very surprised that he was fine wearing the hat, but I suspect he had some idea of what was going on.  I had to lock the cats out of the studio while I was setting up because Arien was quickly becoming obsessed with the streamers (check out that last picture for evidence).  Just like last year, he was reluctant to go into the studio since he is normally not allowed in there at all.  I had to coax him into position, but once he was sitting where I wanted him and was given his treat, he relaxed.

At the beginning, Beren was only licking his special birthday "cake".  He also kept knocking it off of the stand, making a bit of a mess.  Finally I intervened and broke a small piece off of the top half for him to eat.  Once he tasted that small piece, the rest of the top disappeared fairly quickly.  😂  I actually took away the bottom half to save for him to have today.  

I'm amazed at how fast these last 4 years have gone.  Beren has become much more chill this past year but also much more vocal.  He doesn't jump on people nearly as much as he used to when they come over, but now he whines out of excitement, which I actually find pretty adorable.  He really is such a good dog, and I love him so much.  ❤

Lounging Around

I had some furniture rearranged while I took pictures of the hamsters.  This inevitably attracted the cats, so I got some cute pictures of them while I was at it.

The Daily Grind

I followed Kira, Arien, and Beren around again today to showcase the daily grind they have during this quarantine.  As you can see, their lives haven't changed a bit.  They are still just as lazy.  Haha! 

Silly Pets

I really don't take pictures of these silly pets as much as I should, but I hope that will change soon!  With all this free time, I figured I could focus on getting more pictures of Kira, Arien, and Beren instead of just the hamsters.  So here's what I got from following them around today.

Wide Views

I enjoyed playing around with this wide angle lens again to get these wide views (I do still want to work on calibrating the focus).  Kira, Beren, and Arien don't seem to like a camera in their face, but they are gonna have to get used to it happening more during this time that I don't have clients to photograph.  Arien was actually a bit tricky to photograph because she kept jumping onto my shoulders.  Hahaha she's such a shoulder cat.

Arien was supposed to get spayed yesterday, but the vet called and said it needed to be delayed two weeks.  😩  Hopefully Arien doesn't destroy our house in the meantime.  She's getting SO crazy!

Hide and Seek

Kira and Arien love playing together, but I do think that Kira gets a wee bit annoyed at the sheer amount of energy Arien has.  So sometimes Kira needs a break.  I like to think this is the following dialogue between these too.

Kira: "ugh, there's Arien.  I should hide."

Arien: "oh hey Kira!!  Wanna play??!!"

Kira: "why is this closet door always closed??!  I need a hiding place!"

Kira: "oh I have the BEST place in mind!"

Kira: "I gotta make sure Arien doesn't see me go under here..."

Kira: "here I go!"

Arien: "oh hey there!  Have you seen Kira?  I'm looking for her."

Kira: "hey mom, I really enjoyed those peaceful moments under the love seat, all by myself.  You gotta make sure Arien never learns about my new hiding spot."

Arien: "Dude, this spot is awesome!  Thanks mom for pointing it out!"

Arien: "Hey Kira, look at this great spot.  I can attack from here."

Arien: "Yep, this spot is the best."

Arien: "I could stay like this forever."
